In response to a significant fodder shortfall in Victoria, Logan Contracting has partnered with WA-based Tralee Hay to supply much-needed hay to farming communities, transported via rail from Western Australia to Victoria.
The partnership, established through mutual networks, began when Logan Contracting’s Troy Logan reached out to Tralee Hay owner, Myles Bolger, after learning about his operations.
“What we were looking for with a partner over here is someone equally as eager to step up to the logistical challenge of getting hay across to the East,” said Troy Logan. “We’ve only been working together for a couple of months, but having a really good partner over in the West to manage logistics on that end has made the operation far more seamless. We really love working with people like Myles Bolger and Tralee Hay.”
The hay supply initiative comes at a critical time for Victorian farmers, with feed shortages placing additional pressure on livestock management. The WA–VIC rail solution has enabled large volumes of hay to be moved efficiently across the country, ensuring farmers can access the fodder they need.
“This is about collaboration in action,” Troy added. “Working together with like-minded businesses from different parts of the country shows what can be achieved when you take action in challenging times. The willingness to take on the logistical risks has paid off, and the result is that farmers are getting the support they need.”
Logan Contracting, based in Victoria, provides a range of agricultural contracting services including compost spreading, silage, maize planting, strip tilling, and hay and fodder solutions. This latest partnership demonstrates their commitment to finding solutions that support farmers not only locally but across state lines.
